African Action e.V. -  Tree planting project in Ghana

African Action is helping to plant trees in Ghana. About 5000 young trees have been planted. The project is sponsored by the Niedersächsischen Lottostiftung and the German climate protection program.

Domiabra is about 14 miles NW of Accra. In the end a different site was chosen near to Tebu. We hope to update this page with new pictures of the Tebu site as soon as they are available.

Die Netzwerker

Pünktlich zur Regenzeit haben James Akrong Rodgers und seine Helfer in Ghana 5000 Bäume gepflanzt. Die Morengas, Casseas und Palmen waren eine Spende der Niedersächsischen Lottostiftung und Teil eines Klimaschutzprogramms. Rodgers ist Koordinator des African Action e. V. mit Sitz in der Nordstadt, zu dem sich Hannoveraner aus Ghana, Togo und anderen westafrikanischen Ländern 1995 zusammengeschlossen haben. "Früher brauchten wir für alles mögliche deutsche Vermittler. Wir wollten aber die Sachen gern selbst in die Hand nehmen", erklärt Rodgers. Etwa einen "Dialog der Kulturen", um den Europäern ein anderes Bild von Afrika zu vermitteln als Hunger und Konflikte. So lädt African Action etwa die Musikgruppe Akoma-Pa aus Ghana ein, die beim Masala-Festival auftritt und Tanz- und Trommelworkshops abhält. Im November wollen die Mitglieder in Ghana erneut Bäume pflanzen - sie hoffen, dass es wieder regnet.
